Substitute Teacher

Fessenden Children’s Center is looking for Substitute Teachers to join our team. Responsibilities will include implementing daily activities that assist the children with mastery of age-appropriate developmental milestones. A teacher must have great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and developmental milestones as well as the ability to engage them and earn their love and trust.

Responsibilities

  • Help to implement a nurturing and creative program 
  • Employ a variety of educational techniques to facilitate achievement of age-appropriate developmental milestones
  • Supervise nap and snack times to ensure that children are safe at all times
  • Communicate with parents as needed
  • Collaborate with other educators; a team player
  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety regulations as required by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC)

Skills

  • Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and educational methods
  • Familiarity with EEC safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
  • Excellent communication and instructional skills
  • Cool-tempered, friendly, reliable and flexible
  • A balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen

Applicants must be available to work between the hours of 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday. Applicants are also required to complete a CORI/SORI/DCF and fingerprinting background records check.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

Toddler Teacher

Fessenden Children’s Center has a temporary opening for an EEC-certified Toddler Teacher to care for, nurture, and teach our young toddlers. A young toddler teacher must have great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and young toddler educational methods, as well as, the ability to engage them and earn their trust and affection. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child, so they develop positive self-esteem and a love of learning during their early childhood journey. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a careful and creative program suitable for children fifteen to thirty months old
  • Employ a variety of educational techniques (social and emotional skill-building, self-care skill-building, storytelling, educational play, sensory exploration, etc.) to teach children and build self-esteem
  • Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
  • Track children’s progress through regular observational practice and report to parents
  • Communicate with parents regularly to gain an understanding of the children’s background and build trusting parent/teacher partnerships
  • Collaborate with other educators
  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

 

Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Young Toddler Teacher
  • Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and young toddler guidance and educational methods
  • Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms, diapering areas, and outdoor play areas
  • Excellent communication and instructional skills
  • Ability to act as a mediator between children
  • Cool-tempered, nurturing, friendly and reliable
  • Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
  • Certification in CPR and first aid for all ages
  • Valid EEC Infant/Toddler Teacher certification
